Pilot and Consolidated Nuclear Security Donate to Fair
Pilot corporation and Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC both provided funds to promote safety and preparedness for East Tennessee. The donations will help with operational costs of the Family Safety and Preparedness Fair to be held Saturday, September 26th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville. The event is free to the community and will better prepare individuals and families for emergency and disaster.
This past February, Tennessee was crippled by winter storms and severe weather and Governor Haslam declared a level II state of emergency for the state. The federal government provided assistance to 35 counties in Tennessee and 30 individuals lost their lives due to the extreme winter weather. Most recently, many residents of Blount county evacuated their homes due to a train accident.
Food and water storage, generators, family communication plans, 72 hour kits, and emergency funds can be of assistance in times of severe weather, power outages, and emergency situations. Attendees to this year’s fair can learn how to prepare, purchase emergency supplies, and learn about the response efforts of local disaster and emergency professionals serving our area.
O.G. Hughes & Sons, BK Logistics Transportation, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have also contributed to this year’s family friendly event which will have over 60 participants and vendors.
